Adult Obesity Rates

Updated September 2021: According to the most recent Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) data, adult obesity rates now exceed 35% in 16 states. Mississippi has the highest adult obesity rate at 39.7% and Colorado has the lowest at 24.2%. Between 2019-2020, the adult obesity rate increased in Alabama, California, and Iowa. Since 2015, the adult obesity rate has increased significantly in 26 states.
